What can you expect to find at these fun places packed with organic, all-natural and delectable treasures? In a nutshell, everything under the Louisiana sun. Red Stick Farmers Market

Ready to hit the downtown farmers market scene and carry back some terrific buys? Red Stick Farmers Market is a must-attend market held year-round at different spots in the city. On Saturdays from 8 a.m. to noon, you can snag produce on the corner of Fifth and Main streets. Tuesdays, their tent is set up at the EBRP Main Library at 7711 Goodwood Boulevard from 8 a.m. to noon. If you’re shopping on Wednesdays, stop by Star Hill Church on Foster Drive from 9 a.m. to noon. One note: Leave your pooch at home during this walk through the wonders of local produce. Red Stick Farmers Market doesn’t cater to pets.

Main Street Market

Main Street Market is a shopping wonderland, filled with local eateries and shops and open six days a week during normal business hours. However, it also doubles as a farmers market on Saturdays when Red Stick Farmers Market sets up its wares. If you’re craving authentic nibbles and delights, head there for a visit. Cooking demos take place regularly, so you might finally learn how to cook okra to perfection just like your Nana did.

Zachary Farmers Market

It takes just half an hour to head north to Zachary and the Zachary Farmer’s Market on a Saturday. From 8 a.m. to noon, you can find all sorts of veggies, fruits, crafts and more at this market. Everything is sold by passionate artisans, farmers and farmers market enthusiasts. It’s a good excuse to hit the road for a morning, and a great way to discover new foods to star in your kitchen.

Denham Springs Farmers Market

While you’re in a mood to tour the area around Baton Rouge and make farmers market discoveries, remember that from 7 a.m. to noon on Saturdays, you can visit the Denham Springs Farmers Market. It’s located at 215 Florida Avenue Southeast in a church parking lot, so it’s easy to find. In addition to fresh-from-the-farm produce, you can expect homemade pickles, salsas, pastries, breads and other edibles. Love some Louisiana-sourced honey but havirouble finding the best stuff? Denham Springs Farmers Market has a reputation for offering awesome honey options. That’s a sweet deal if we ever heard of one!
