Road Trippin’ Baton Rouge recently visited the Watermark hotel and highlighted all the reasons we, and so many others, love our unique space. It’s not just our historic location in downtown Baton Rouge. Our aesthetics were the focus of the feature and lived up to our slogan of an experience “exactly like nothing else.”
We draw on both our history and contemporary art to create a one-of-a-kind setting for our guests. We have beautiful custom-made decor including our eight different murals in the lobby that were commissioned by Angela Gregory in 1949. The Watermark hotel is far from other standard hotels, as our location in the old Louisiana National Bank holds excitement at every turn.
Some of our meeting spaces, as showcased by our General Manager Adam Gautreaux during Road Trippin’ Baton Rouge, still contain elements of the bank including the original vault and safety deposit box room. Staying with us or visiting us feels like stepping into a piece of history.
Although we love the aspects of our history, we also want to combine them with modern touches. That’s why we have custom artwork as part of our commitment to infuse the past and the present. Country Roads magazine even chimed in, highlighting this infusion and describing it as a delight to every guest’s senses no matter if they are staying, dining or simply stopping by.
The Watermark hotel also has the best dining experience in Baton Rouge. With The Gregory and Milford’s on Third, we offer Southern flavors with fresh ingredients straight from the Mississippi River. One of our most popular appetizers mentioned on Road Trippin’ Baton Rouge is the pork and oysters. Oysters and other seafood are incorporated into many of our appetizers and dishes since it’s an integral part of the region.
Whether it’s for dinner, a weekend stay or a whole week’s vacation, the Watermark hotel has something for everyone. Our culinary scene will both delight you and remind you of favorites from the Deep South. Within the hotel, our blend of historic charm and modern accents will make any trip to Baton Rouge more meaningful and complete. Include us on your next road trip to Baton Rouge to see and experience it for yourself.
