Blythewood Plantation is probably best known for hosting weddings, but it’s also a show-stopping location for birthday parties as well. The estate consists of a breathtaking Greek Revival mansion situated on approximately 10 acres of grounds. You’ll find that there’s not only plenty of space for your party but also dozens and dozens of fantastic photo opportunities across the picturesque estate.

When you book your party space at Blythewood Plantation, you can choose between catered and non-catered options, allowing you to customize your party to your needs. If you have out-of-town guests, there are bed-and-breakfast rooms you can rent out as well.

2. The Guru at Circa 1857

If you’re looking for a unique atmosphere and a vintage early 20th-century vibe, you’ll want to check out The Guru at Circa 1857. Located in the Circa 1857 Complex on 19th and Government Streets, the Guru aims to create the perfect space to rent out for your private event. Housed in what was originally a mechanics’ garage in the 1920s, this space features plenty of ambiance and atmosphere to give your party a mood you won’t find anywhere else.

The Guru is more intimate than some of the other venues on the list. Maximum capacity is 80 people, but that’s still plenty of space to make your party amazing at this venue.

3. Renaissance Baton Rouge Hotel

At the Renaissance Hotel in Baton Rouge, there’s plenty of room to host your perfect birthday party. These private rooms have all the features and functionality to make terrific spots for corporate business functions and weddings, meaning that they also might be just the spot for your birthday event. And with 13 rooms to choose from, the odds of you finding the right spot for your party are very high.

The private event spaces represent the very height of elegance, with their beautiful décor, abundant light and sophisticated Southern charm. There are also multiple menu options available so that you can customize your food service to whatever feels right for the type of party you’re hosting. Choose from breakfast, lunch or dinner options, as well as different rooms that offer capacities of anywhere from 14 people to almost 900.

4. Louisiana State Museum

One of the best spots to host your birthday party in Downtown Baton Rouge is undoubtedly the Louisiana State Museum. This state museum is located just in the shadow of the beautiful Art Deco State Capitol building and has a sleek and modern feel thanks to its heavy featuring of glass, marble and metal. Together, these elements work to create a striking venue that’s full to bursting with perfect photo spots for your event.

Another attribute to love about this venue is its enormous hosting capacity as a “party room” in Baton Rouge. Maximum capacity is to 775 people, so feel free to invite as many friends and out-of-town relatives as you can think of to share in your special day.

5. LSU Museum of Art

What’s better than getting a little culture and art appreciation while celebrating an important birthday? LSU Museum of Art will likely be of special interest to any art geeks in your life, but it’s also a beautiful spot anyone can enjoy and appreciate. This museum offers spectacular views of the Mississippi River, a backdrop of beautiful and unique artwork and a high-class atmosphere.

There isn’t just one single space you can rent out at the LSU Museum of Art, either. Instead, you can choose from several different galleries and rooms as you decide which is best for your event. Decide between spaces including the outdoor venue of the Irene W. Pennington Rooftop Terrace, where you can accommodate 300 people for a cocktail party or 200 for a sit-down dinner, or the Bert and Sue Turner Gallery for an indoor space with a slightly smaller maximum capacity.

5. Baton Rouge Gallery Center for Contemporary Art

You have two prestigious art centers to choose from when hosting a private dinner party in Baton Rouge. If the LSU Museum of Art doesn’t quite fit the bill, why not take a look to see if the Baton Rouge Gallery Center for Contemporary Art suits your needs instead?

Located in BREC’s City Park, this art gallery boasts almost 3,000 feet of interior exhibition space for your event in addition to a 1,200-foot terrace for your event to carry over into the outdoors as well. At this venue, you can reach a maximum capacity of up to 300 guests.

6. Laser Tag of Baton Rouge

Whoever said that every birthday party had to involve a sit-down dinner? Those types of parties can be perfect under the right circumstances, but they aren’t right for every situation. If you and your friends are looking to base your party around a fun and exciting activity, then Laser Tag of Baton Rouge should be at the top of your list. Whether your party consists of kids, adults or both, we think everyone can have a terrific time here.

Rental and booking options vary, so you can decide what fits best for your party. Book either the birthday, mega-birthday or lock-in party option for a child’s party depending on how many guests are invited, or choose the private party for a group of adults for exclusive use of the facility, unlimited laser tag and unlimited arcade games.

7. The Varsity Theatre

Sometimes, a party involves an elegant sit-down dinner and other times, it involves a fun group activity. Other times, it involves a cocktail-style event with a live DJ or band playing just the music you like for your event. If this third event sounds the most like your style, then we’d like to recommend The Varsity Theatre for your birthday bash. Here you’ll find a stage big enough to comfortably suit any type of band, speaker or DJ, plenty of floor space and even a balcony to provide a little variety when it comes to letting the party spread out.

You’ll have access to two video projection screens and fantastic sound and lighting equipment so that if you like your party with a heavy dose of amazing entertainment, you’ll have all the equipment you need to make that happen. And with a maximum capacity of 800 people, you shouldn’t have any worries about cutting people off the guest list due to limited space.

8. Sullivan’s of Baton Rouge

Sometimes, the perfect solution for your birthday event is to host in the private dining rooms of one of your favorite restaurants. If this sounds like the right idea for you, then why not check out the options available at Sullivan’s of Baton Rouge? Sullivan’s Steakhouse is a chain restaurant with locations across the country, meaning they have the background and experience to make your party everything you deserve it to be.

At Sullivan’s, you’ll find an excellent selection of seafood, steaks, martinis and even live music, depending on the occasion. When you book your private room at Sullivan’s, you can choose between a lunch event, an hors d’oeuvres only event and a full dinner event.

9. Juban’s Restaurant

When it comes to elegant dining in Baton Rouge, few names are so widely familiar and recognizable as Juban’s Restaurant. Known for their Creole- and Cajun-style cooking as well as their emphasis on delicious seafood, they’re worth a visit for any lover of Southern cuisine. The Hallelujah Crab, in particular, makes Juban’s a worthwhile choice as your party venue.

When you host your party at Juban’s you can choose one of 12 different private rooms, patios and event spaces, all offering different seating capacities. Small spaces for intimate parties allow for as few as 12 guests, while much larger event spaces can easily accommodate as many as 500. With their impeccable service, elegant atmosphere and delicious food, it’s hard to find a reason not to choose Juban’s.

10. Ruffino’s Restaurant

The convenience of hosting your birthday party at a restaurant is that you’ll never have to worry about sorting out the details of hiring an outside catering service. Instead, you can take advantage of the delicious food they’re making and serving right there within the walls of the restaurant. This is exactly the convenience you can enjoy when you choose to hold your birthday event at Ruffino’s Restaurant.

Ruffino’s specializes in serving up delicious seafood, steak and Italian, and when you book your party with them, you can enjoy these delightful tastes for yourself. Choose from four private dining rooms, book your party for anywhere from 150 to 200 guests and enjoy the flexibility of hosting either a lunchtime or an evening party. Oh, and don’t forget to take advantage of the full audio-visual capabilities in each room to show any videos or play any music you may want for your event.

11. The Bulldog

Not all restaurant-hosted birthday parties have the same vibe to them. Some are elegant and sophisticated while others are super casual. A few parties manage to strike a perfect balance between the two. When you host your birthday party at The Bulldog in Baton Rouge, we think you’ll agree that this balance between casual and upscale is one of the best places to be for a small and intimate gathering of friends.

You’ll have two options when it comes to hosting your party at the Bulldog. Choose the outdoor patio by the fountain, where you’ll enjoy the use of the patio bar and even a private bartender in a space that can accommodate 40 guests. And if you’d rather keep the party indoors or if the weather doesn’t seem to be cooperating, you can choose the indoor lounge instead. This space is also suitable for 40 people and is segmented away from the main dining room for privacy. Whichever space you choose, you’ll love making the Bulldog’s signature incredible selection of beer the crowning touch for your party.

12. The Gregory

For the very best Cajun and Creole dining in Baton Rouge, the first name that comes to mind should be The Gregory. At The Gregory, we pride ourselves on using only the finest and freshest of local ingredients. We use these ingredients to create some of the most traditional and well-loved Southern favorites, with unique twists that you can only find here.
